Default 1991 883 sportster trouble

My 91 Sportster has about 6600 miles on it. Do to any injury I did not ride much this year. I started it up after sitting a couple months and when the biked warmed there was a reddish type fluid leaking out of the air filter. When I felt it, it has the same feel as oil. I havnt taken the air filter off to look any further. It does have a K&N filter, and I am know the oil is red thats sprayed on the filter is red; but I have never had this problem before and the bike is garaged. I havnt cleaned or treated the filter since last season because I have not ridden it. It was an active drip that was comming out of the air filter housing.

Has anyone else experienced this, suggestions.

If there is 'red oil' coming from the air filter then no doubt the filter has been over-oiled. I would take it off, wipe everything down, and re-apply the filter oil sparingly. I do not have a K&N filter and I stick with stock AC/filter units, but it really sounds like there is too much air filter oil, and does not appear to be major cause for concern once addressed.
