Not to **** you off but we are talking about the warm gasoline cooling down after the bike is turned off.....

My old 04 FI does not vent fumes. Just a thought but I would make sure the hose vent to the tank is on and the gas cap seal is not damaged or seal area nicked. The vent vents the top of the tank off and would be the first place the hot engine below the tank would cause a few fumes to drift up. You can probably smell two drops of gas in a double garage. I cannot stand a lawn mower in my garage attached to my house. If its not the vent or cap you have a small gas leak.

I have my Bike,,EFI,
mower and other gas yard equipment
plus a generator plus a few gas cans,,
I close the gas can vents, the mower tank vent, and generator tank vent.
all those cans and tanks are plastic and can expand anyways.
I do not smoke in there or run a grinder or any open flame,,,,
I have never smelled gas

I have noticed if I stop turning the gas cap when it clicks for the first time, it will smell sometimes around the bike or when I take the cover off. When I finally figured it out, now I turn it through several clicks, it keeps going down, doesn't seem to smell anymore. May sound dumb, but make sure the cap is on all the way.
