does speedometer need hot wire
i have a 93 sportster xlh 1200 with a cable driven speedo it has a wire coming out of it i was wondering if it has to be hooked up for the sppedo to work or if it's just for the light thanks for any help

Nope. If it's a white wire with a green stripe it should run to a module under your seat to cancel your turn signals when you get up to speed.

Yup just a wire for the light in it.
