Default 6 Gallon tank install questions...

So, I want to put a 6 gallon Fat Boy tank on my Sporty. Aside from the look, a couple of extra gallons won't hurt. I have an '06 XL1200L.

First question, if anyone has already done this, what year models of Fat Boys will better fit with my petcock setup?

Second, apes will be installed with it. So, will I need anything more than a 2 inch riser to keep the bars from hitting the tank when bars turned fully to one side?

Any help would be appreciated.

I wanted to do this with my 2009 EFI and use a FatBob tank of similar year. So I'm following this closely ^.^

I would rather run out of gas and push my bike than install an oversized tank like that. Post pics when you're done - I'll need a good laugh.

The Dyna tank on a Sportster is a great looking mod.

I'm not sure how I feel about some of these fat tanks on sportsters but I'm eager to see how this comes out. I guess it'll be nice not to run out of fuel as quickly. I was just going to carry a 1 gallon Tourtube in a pack. hehe

Man ... Six gallon tank on a Sportster! Must be wonderful to be young. Back in the day I had a 76 XLCH with the 2.2 gallon tank, and after 100 miles I was lookin' for a place to stand up! Post some pictures when done so we can see how it looks!
