Default 99 sportster motor oil in primary

Motor oil getting in to the primary.looking to find out why

How do you know it is motor oil ?

That doesn't mean it's going into the primary......Sporties puke their oil into the AC and the oil is "suppose" to get burned with the fuel. From time to time, you may need to add some oil. Are you checking the level in your primary and finding too much?

the primary ends up with all 4 qts of oil in it.

4 Quarts? Does the oil come spewing out the primary chain inspection cover? With 4 quarts in there I think it would.

Based on what you are saying, if you do your own mechanical work then you need a service manual, if not then you won't get a good answer here. We could tell you what to look for but without the service manual or the mechanical ability, it won't mean much.


You need to see your dealer or indie shop.

The only thing between your motor oil and primary fluid is a seal on the primary side of the crank. you'll find it under your compensating sprocket.

That seems like an awful lot of oil in there!
