Default Bit the Bullet -- Goodbye Sportster

I've decided to trade in my SuperLow for a 2012 Heritage. I knew from the beginning that this would happen eventually, but I surprised even myself at how quickly it did. I loved the Sporty, but the Softail provides more of what I was looking for: a more powerful engine, more rider and passenger comfort, and a much smoother ride/power band.

I recognize that we're comparing apples to oranges, but I was tired of trying to make the Sportster something it was not by accessorizing it. I found out early how expensive this can be. I appreciate the need to personalize, but it was getting ridiculous. The Sporty was my starter bike -- and I don't mean that in a pejorative way. After multiple accessories, I began contemplating new handlebars, springs and shocks and decided to hit the pause button and reevaluate the whole situation.

It has been great hanging around here -- I learned a lot. I am very happy now, and if any of you are going through the same thing, I say this: Pull the trigger and don't look back.

Be safe,

Mike

I have had my XL50 for 3 years now and it is by no means a starter bike, but have fun with the road sofa.

I meant no offense by my "starter bike" comment, as I stated in my original post. As you know, the SL is an 883, and it literally was my first bike. I'm not sure about the Softail being a sofa, but on this particular sofa I feel more confident in traffic and at higher speeds, especially with twice the torque and hp. There's nothing wrong with the Sporty -- hell, I bought one. I just wanted to share my experience with others who may be thinking along the same lines.
