Default idle speed

I have a 2007 fuel injected sportster with a big bore kit on it. The bike idles at about 1000rpm to 1200rpm. What is the lowest "safe" idle rpm that I can go to?

The lower the idle, the greater the stress on the crank....

I suppose my engine should be dead by now then... 25000 miles give or take.

now seriously, if the pump ceases to work why doesn't the light come up?

Oil is still flowing, and the light won't come on at a slow idle because as little as 3 lbs of pressure is all is all it needs to stay off. It's the quantity, ( flow ) of cooler oil that's important. Oil draws away heat, so more flow is better, and a higher idle gives you that.

If your running a Sportster.......your starving the motor of oil.

BT's can go as low as 800? I think. Sportster motors can not go as low.
