Yeah...I checked it out in person. It's super cool. All you have to do is swap out your main shaft then simply replace the sprocket cover with their unit. Very well built. It's a completely machined sprocket cover that houses a gear reduction dual sprocket set up for the kicker. It's basically the same as push starting it.

They're also working on a cam cover that ditches the ignition in favor of a magneto so you can ditch the battery all together.

They also are working on some Panhead rocker box covers. Those are ridiculously cool. Real covers. 3 pieces just like stock...not the cheesey overlay covers you can get online.

BUT...rumor is (and I cannot confirm this) that the kickstart unit is going to be around 1500 bones. I'm sure the price is justified by the amount of machining, but it's a bit spendy none-the-less.

Oh, and they ARE going to have them for 04 & up but not right away. The EFI bikes require 2 revolutions before it'll fire and they have that worked out.

Just saw on Led Sled's facebook this kicker kit is now available for sale. Only for 91-03 5 speed models for $1150.00. Currently no plans to build a kit for other models.

That's funny, I could see it.

hahaa... imagine a softail with an electric kick starter.. the old timers are going to say that it is the ultimate "poser" bike... but I want one!!.. BTW... I saw the video interview of the guy behind Ledsled.. he says that he is a "sporty" guy.. he has kits for other bikes.. but his thing is a Sportster.. he seems to be quite a down-to-Earth guy..

Sounds like the big, bad Willie G. caved to stockholder influence.
I guess the same kind of thing that made him eliminate the trap door in '04.

I rode this old 1964 Panhead kick start only for several years in the 70s. probably couldn't start it today at my age.

I thought long and hard about trying to make a kicker work on my sporty, but the new SR400 is a kick only bike and only three times as much as this kit, and then I'd have two! Haha plus it's the only bike with a similarly vast aftermarket support system.
