I actually kinda dig that. My brother had a 65 sporty last year before he sold it for a bigger bike and all it had was a kicker and I kinda liked it. However I would still want the electric starter because some times kicking can be a PITA.

Well that will definitely add some cool to your bar runner, and make people wonder just how old your bike is. Although, the electric starter is an improvement I care to stick with.

Kicking a Sportster to start does sound cool but How many have actually had to do it ALL the time just to ride? I loved my Triumph, but hated the kicker. She wouls start on the first kick every time, almost. When she didn't, I would get a "hitch in my giddy-up" for the rest of the day. I do like it for the Sportster, just keep the push button.

Anyone who does this will have to modfy their ignition if it's an EFI bike. EFI bikes fire after 2-3 engine revolutions....kick bikes need to fire after 1/2 revolution.....you can't kickt he biek fast enough to fire EFI.

May look cool, but kickers are a PITA.

DYNA makes an ignition where you can click it over to "kick"....or you can go with a Magneto, I guess.

I'm going there Tuesday...I'll ask about it. I've been curious about it as well.

I read that Willie G wanted the Nightster to have a kickstart, but the idea got axed due to complexity and cost.

I'd be very interested in this, as long as it doesn't replace the electric start, and as long as the EFI can be kept. I can't see how that would work, given the way EFI operates, but I'm no mechanical engineer (or mechanical anything else, for that matter).

I'd love to hear what MReed or anyone else with experience on this piece thinks of it...

You'll probably find a bunch of old XLCH owners outside that building kicking the crap out of the genius who re-invented the sportster kick starter.
