Default HD Spring Seat W/ Rubber Mounts

I have been looking at a different (Lower) way to mount the seat...
After cruising threw catalogs and websites I came across these rubber mounts that use a 1/2-13 threaded insert. I got them from McMaster Carr for $8.36 each, nice soft rubber and I used a 2" piece of Stainless Steel Threaded Rod and one 1/2-13 stainless nut. The seat height feels like it dropped about an 1 1/2".
You get moved back and down the seat position is perfect and low. It also feels great about the same cushion as the springs only a little softer. I left the spring bracket in place and the rubber bumpers get locked in place so it doesn't move around at all. Remove the springs from the seat and bracket...reinstall the bracket and mount the rubber bumpers to the seat push it down and the bumpers will need a little coaxing but they will pop into place in front of the nut. So if you want your seat lower here ya go.

Try and find shorter Hair Pin springs....that will line up with the bolts.

I think it looks fine. Maybe even better if you painted the top nuts black.

But...you can get 1" coil springs from Debrix or eBay that would bolt straight to where the rubber snubbers rest. Then you could cut off the bent tab that the hair pins bolt to.

But like I said, looks cool the way it is.

Clever! Definitely an improvement in the saddle height over the spring set up.

If you don't mind a suggestion - aesthetically speaking - it doesn't look quite "right" - I'm wondering if you could somehow wind an actual spring over those bumpers to retain the traditional look, but not interfere with the function.

Or - secure a flat piece of iron to the original holes in the saddle and move those bumpers inward so they rest right on the frame where they might not be so visible.

Please don't get me wrong - I love how clever people are here on this forum - nice job boss!

It looks bette this way than how it came-never liked the HD spirng seat. Like was said the bolts at least need painted black, but mreed had the best idea.

I hope you don't mind but I stole your idea. To my suprise the difference in ride quality is quite noticable.

I did this for 2 reasons. 1 I wanted to lower the seat to keep my *** from sliding around on it. 2) I want to be able to flip the seat up to access the stock seat mounting bolt to be able to quickly put on a passenger pad. I stole the stock passenger pad off my brother's Wide Glide. Flip it backwards and it mounts right up.

I don't mind at all man that's why I posted all the parts and places so anybody else could do it too. Looks good, it really does put you in a better spot and position.
