Default 2004+ rocker box

I am helping out a friend and doing a top end gasket kit on a '04 883.
A lil different than my '02 and the Dyna..... so, my question is- on the bottom plate holding the rocker arms, do I remove the 4 larger bolts (1/2head), then the 4 retaining the bottom rocker plate... or visa-versa(would rather not risk cracking the plate)?
Secondly- if someone could advise the torque specs on the rocker box fasteners, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the inconvience..... have a hard time spending $60 for "charity" work.
TIA.
