The MoCo kits are fine, and so are the S&S. Going from 883 to 1200 isn't a stroker kit, just uses bigger bore barrels. The 883 bore & stroke is 3.00 x 3.81, and the 1200 is 3.50 x 3.81.

You can always try J&P's conversion kit at this link:

At $529.99 it sounds & looks like a nice inexpensive way to get the punch you're after!

Good luck with your wrenching!

just my .02 the screamin eagle kit is around 450, and has forged pistons, some of the other kits have cast pistons. most harley dealers will do it for 850-950 usually in one day.

NRHS has alot of good sporty perforamnce stuff. If you do the wotk yourself you will save a bunch of money and be able to throw head work or cams in there.

I never worked on a bike before, but did my top end rebuild myself , it only took a day to do.

Taking a 883 to a 1200 is a great thing. But using 883 heads on a 1200 is not so great. Long story short the 883 head will not work likea 1200 head. The kit many use is less money , using a dished piston to keep comp ratio in check. The best bang for you buck is to use Thunder storm heads From HD and there H/C pistons , and the xl bolt in cams and with tuning 90HP is with reach. The early 1200 buel was 90 hp out of the box.

Now we skip forward in time to present day and you can install 1250 kit. I have built several of these and they are down right scary fast. Use Buel heads ( 500 for the pari from hd) the 1250 kit a set of cams and you are pushing the 105+ hp mark. Try vertical wheelies in 2nd and 3rd on a 1200's . The plus is that the cylinders are nikasil so there is no case mods to go this big, there is a lifetime warranty on the cylinders, pistons and gaskets come with the kit. And you will see 20-30 less oil temps. Not to mention have one bad *** sporty. I built one and I ride with the guy and I cannot pull him until I shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Then the big cubes walk away but stop light to stop light a very close race. Many time he gets me by a legnth or two until I get the 3rd gear and I kindly remove his paint on the way by.

I sell the kit I am talking about and use the same kind on cylinder on my bike . The kit is a great way to go to have a bigger i nch sporty without boring case to get cylinder spigots to fit
