Default Another '04+ Slip On Muffler Option

Just wanted to let you know that there is another 'option' out there for 2004+ Slip On mufflers.

I like the stock pipe/heat shield setup, and currently have my 1200C setup to run perfectly with 'gutted mufflers'. The crossover pipe provides sufficient backpressure, even with the SE "E" cams installed, but the look of the stock mufflers leaves something to be desired.

Anyway, they are now making high quality slash cut triple chromed exhaust extensions that are a simple bolt on for the newer Sportsters. They use the original mounting bracket, the crossover pipe installs just like on the stock mufflers, and have removeable baffles.

I talked with a guy that has installed them, and he said the fit and quality is perfect, and they look great.

Needless to say, they will really increase the exhaust tone (even with the baffles installed).

I like the clean look of drag pipes, and plan on ordering a set later this week.

Here are a couple of pictures so you can get an idea of how how look mounted and unmounted.

And a little 'description':

"2004 Up Sportster Drag Pipe Extensions

This is a pair of Sportster slip-on drag pipe extensions that feature removable baffles and cross tube nipples to connect to OE brackets and fit Sportster models 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. These are the slash cut design and we have already sold several sets of these and they sound great, if you are looking for that "Harley" roaring sound. My customers so far, to this date love these pipes and we have had not even one complaint. These slip right on your existing head pipes and you can take those ugly, terrible sounding, (our opinion) stock mufflers off."

Yeah, you can get them on EBay from a couple different vendors...

Here is just one for example...

In my opinion the fact that the crossover tube is retained you will still have some back pressure.Maybe the guy or gal selling these should also offer torque cones for the head pipes. If I knew these would have been available back in May they would have most likely been on my bike.I bought the Vance and Hines at the time.

They have internal baffles/restrictors like most aftermarket 'mufflers', so the backpressure shouldn't be any different than any other setup.

I don't have any baffles/restrictors in the mufflers of my '05 1200C, and the crossover pipe provides sufficient backpressure, even when running much higher lift Screamin' Eagle "E" cams.

I sent the seller a question and asked if these would fit the 2007 and he responded with a firm NO.

So my question is, will these really work on a 2007 Sportster Custom 1200?
