883 Iron with 29 tooth sprocket question
Ok, here’s the question.
883 iron with stage 1 and tuner pushing 60hp.
If I install the 29 tooth, what can I expect?
Will I have to re-dyno?
TIA!

No you won't have to retune, it will feel sluggish out of the hole and at lower RPM's.

You'll kill performance! Modern bikes are given high gearing to reduce engine speed and noise, to help get them through noise emissions tests. Even serious tuning mods do not require changes of gearing. Enjoy your improved performance!
I actually changed the 25T compensator on my Dyna to a 21T, to improve performance - very effective!

What year Iron do you have? 2011 models come from the factory with a 29T.
As to what to expect, go through this thread and pay close attention to the posts by cHarley:

Well, I did it today. The bike feels right now. Not sluggish at all, did not kill performance, etc...
I would highly recommend doing it if you feel like you need to run a little faster to keep up with traffic. I read all the posts a bunch of times, and I have to say that I love the change so far. They should come this way, but my guess is that with no mods, it would be sluggish. With stage one mods, it feels perfect.

Harley agrees with you hence all 2011 883's come with a 29T vice the 28T.

I've read multiple threads saying that it doesn't. Dealer will tell you it does, most likely.
