Default bike won't start

my buddy has an 07 883. fuel pump turns on and feeds gas, new battery, new plugs, good spark but bike starts and then immediately dies. old battery did the same thing so he went and got a new one. new battery holds charge (although wasn't load tested) but the bike just dies after crank. i know the 07 sporties had problems with the fuel pumps but his sounds good. any suggestions? thanks.

i did find this. sounds like a similar issue.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...883-issue.html
might be some module under your seat that causes the bike to die when it's tipped over. i know you were messing with the seat. ???
*EDIT** forgot to ask too blum, is it throwin any codes on the speedo?

first guess: Did you check the fuses and two black square relays in the fuse box for corrosion?
Second guess: crank position sensor.

All the fuses check out. the service tech at the local harley shop said to try a system relay. put in a new one, same thing. he then said to try eliminating my aftermarket power commander. did that, no change. only thing that has made any difference is spraying carb cleaner in the throttle body. if for close to twice as long. I might try buying a crank position sensor. I was also thinking a new fuel filter, though its unlikely.

I knew there had to be a way to test the electronics on the bike, like you would a car. with some research I found how to access the diagnostic codes. I found the codes on my bikes. then i researched the codes. heres an old post that has how to access codes and a list of common ones. mine were intermittent crank position sensor and o2 sensor front and rear high. 1st order of bussiness will be getting a crank position sensor. then if the bike runs, play with my power commander. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/elect...tic-codes.html

hmmmmm.....good find blum. i'm really surprised more folks haven't chimed in here. so i'm assuming it's throwing a code? that would be ideal cause you could pinpoint the problem and go from there. i doubt it's the fuel filter.

Yeah, he said it flagged the crank pos sensor, that would definitely do it. The O2 faults are probably just nusance faults.
