I have the NEED to change things that better suits my style. I've never been able to keep something stock. There is never an end to things. There's always something to be changed. Hell when I got my truck, I couldn't keep things stock. The bike and my truck are the other women in my life

I've owned my '08 custom 1200 for less than a month and have already made
"personal' changes ie scrapped the damn forwards for mids dumped the 21"spoked front wheel for 19" blk thunderstar, V&H short shots. screaming eagle heavy breather and sest. And still not done. Wonder if it ever ends

Maybe I am starting to see--I don't know if it counts as a modification or not since it's not mechanical or performance related but I did add something to the bike today. I am 6'2" and have been doing some long day trips and decided that I needed even more room than the forward controls provide, so I decided to add an engine guard and highway pegs so I could stretch out more. It's not much, but it was satisfying to get it the way I wanted. I may be getting at least an inkling of what you all have been saying.

I bought my first Harley in 2006. I bought a CVO Sreaming Eagle Fat Boy... As sad as this sounds, I bought it because I thought the paint was awesome... I walked through the Harley dealership and could not distinguish one model from the other. I bought the CVO because it had lots of options and like you, I did not have any idea where to begin. After owning it for a while I begin to understand all the options and mods it had. In 2007 I bought my wife a deluxe, and put about 15K of mods into it. Check it out it is in an album in my profile. In 2010 I bought a street glide and I have put about 28k into it. So the answer is yes, it comes in time. 5 years ago I could not tell one from the other, now I would never buy a CVO because it has too many mods on it that are not my style. Have fun. Dont put mods on it just because others do. If you like it the way it is, leave it until you really start to see things you fall in love with, and believe me you will......
