how to install Screamin' EagleŽ Heavy Breather Performance Air Cleaner Kit
hey there< i just bought a screamin eagle heavy breather performance air kit and wanted to install it myself - but the instructions say that i will need to have the ecm recalibrated afterwards or may have sever engine damage. has anyone done this themselves and can give me any pointers?

1. Search function on the forum gives you access to TONS of info that others have posted...just so happens that your question is addressed multiple times a week.
2. Quick and dirty answer....Get a set of x14ieds. Plug-n-play install and 5 min later you're back in the saddle. That will solve the issue for ECM calibration and they're a cheaper option than a FuelPak or PCV.

I had the same intake with the X14iED's. It still ran a bit too lean, as I had a lot of decel popping. I'd still consider trying them, but you will more than likely have to add an additional tuner if you have an aftermarket exhaust too. I ended up taking my intake and FuelPak off because I didn't feel like screwing around with the tuning anymore. I lost a little power and it doesn't look as nice, but it runs like a champ now.

I used the newer XIEDs for 500 miles before removing them and replacing them with a Fuel Moto Micro EFI. Wish I would have bought the FM first.

If you install that SE air filter with no mods your bike will probably run lean, which can have a variety of effects, such as back-firing on the over-run. There is a confusing variety of devices that claim to solve all our problems, after modifying our bikes. I couldn't get an XIED for my Buell, but found a Dobeck module that has a decent degree of adjustment and cured my Buell. It starts more readily now, runs more smoothly on tick-over and is just nicer to ride.
There is a Sticky in the Tech Ignition section that is worth reading, on why EFI bikes need a tuner.

Dobeck rocks
I have been using Dobeck stuff on my 2008 Road King, 2011 SE Street Glide and love them.
I now have a 2015 Road Glide with a SE air cleaner, FullSac header, and 4" Rinehart slip-ons. Even with the stage one download the **** runs way to lean and hot. I just got off the phone with a sales guy there and will order another EJK controller. I was thinking of the AFR model but after talking decided what I knew to be best for me (I am a plug and play guy).
Thanks for the great products.
