Default Intake on the cheap. pics

2011 48.

My goal is to do mods that are cheap and also look stock. I was looking the at the screaming eagle intakes but they want close to $300 for a K&N without an airbox. na thanks.

I just ordered a K&N filter for about $45 on amazon. Then removed the stock airbox. It breaths SO much better. And really, your not going to gain much with spending an extra $200. sorry.

mod how too.

With this, the XIED and removing the baffles from the stock exhaust. I'm done with speed mods. it is SO much faster than stock now.
-$45.00 for intake
-$25.00 for exhaust (because I had to buy a drill extension and 1in hole bit)
-$110.00 for XIED

I don't know how you guys hold on AND shift through 1-3 gears when your really punching it. I weight 150lbs and it's hard not to fly off the bike while "racing" through the first few gears.. while shifting where I should. I have to lay off the gas for a sec then shift.. then hold on again..lol This really wasn't an issue on the stock bike.

how about pics of how it looks now. I'm assuming you just left it open air, meaning you didn't place the cover back on?

Or did you do what I'm doing and buy a crankcase breather kit and put on a cheapy Autozone 4" kit (except with a K&N for your sake)

I like what you've done, but make sure you dont have any leakage between the breathers and the air filter. Removal of the air box wont allow the filter breather ports to seal against the o rings, as shown in your third pic. A 1/4" spacer behind the o rings might do the trick.

Thanks.
I looked at that and noticed. Right now, the two O's are the same size so they sit against each other. I just tightened down the 3 bolts carefully and made sure there is no gap. One thing i thought of doing and still may.. is just to cut out the needed plastic from the airbox and use that as my connection point. Just dremel out that center part with the 3 bolt holes would do it.

LOL ...I'm 210 and test drove a 1200 a couple days ago...it was stock but I had the same problem...My *** kept sliding back up onto the fender when I punched it...lol. The dealer suggested using a passenger peg to brace my self against when accelerating so fast.
