Default Idle problems after changing grips

Hi all,
I have a 2006 sportster 1200 custom, I recently changed my stock hand grips to the Kuryakyn ISO grips. I adjusted the throttle and idle cable per instructions and reset them per repair manual. My throttle is working like its supposed to, but I can't seem to get the idle adjusted right. The problem I am having is: when I start it, it idles like it should, but as it warms up it starts to idle high.

When it has warmed up enough the close the choke I give it some throttle and it will return to proper idle, I wait a minute or so give it some throttle and let off, it will return to idle but it will idle a little high for a few seconds and the return to proper idle, wait another min, give it throttle and let it return to idle, it idled high for a little longer then returns to normal, a couple more times and it will just idle high and not return to normal.

Any ideas as to what would be causing this, or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer.

Hi Chromis and welcome to HDF from the UK. It could be something really silly and simple to fix (hopefully!). The twistgrip needs a light coat of grease, so it will turn easily on the bar and you can also grease the upper part of the cables, so they also move freely. So remove the twistgrip from the bike, compare it with the one you took off and check there are no differences, like burrs or other features that may make the twistgrip hang up when on the bike. You can also leave a little more slack in the cables to ckeck they function OK when rebuilt. You may find that taking it apart and refitting it is the cure!
