Default First Service - what do they do?

Whats all involved in your first service? I'm out at the mine, no access to my manual or dealer, and just curious. Also, do many of you run Syn oil or dino?

Change fluids and check a bunch of stuff. There is a list in the manual for all of the service checks.

If its anything like my first (and last) service at the dealer, they take your bike into the service bunker and play grabass for about an hour or so. Then one of the grabassers takes your bike for a joy...er test ride to make sure you think they did something that needs testing. Then you give one of the grabassers a bunch of money and ride off into the sunset, where you bike promptly dies and leaves you stranded.

Like I said, I'm at a fly in mine, in the middle of the Arctic, it's not as simple as grabbing my manual.......I'm just killing some time, asking a few questions. To those that answered, thanks a ton. To nubs.....wait, I looked at your other posts, it seems that stupid Picard avatar is pretty much all you offer the forums.....

Really, the title was pretty self explanatory, you think someone not interested would just move on to the next thread.

You call something I do stupid when you have the internet at your use and have to ask what they do at a 1k service when you could have easily searched google or this site and found out?

Yes I post that for all the goons that don't know how to find things that are everywhere and are posted over and over every month(not to mention in the wrong sections sometimes)

So still you don't know how to look around or read many of my posts since I only started doing that recently

Here's a link showing what one dealer says they do-

http://www.houseofharley.com/customp...sportster_1000

The better question- Is there a dealer in your area that actually does everything on the checklist? ...AND does not screw up what they do?

I know there is not one near me.

There are no stupid questions just stupid people that make stupid jokes when someone is honestly trying to get a simple answer to an honest question.

Which is what this forum was designed for in the first place. Nubz, I bet you would love it if the next time you needed an answer to a question that you really wanted an answer to we all made jokes about your question too.
