I have a 3" tank lift on my 3.3 gallon tank. I generally stop for gas around 110 miles and 2.75 gallons to fill it up.
I have stretched on occasion and put a full 3.3 gallons in the tank.
HD gauges and idiot lights are notoriously inaccurate. They can certainly vary from bike to bike.
Would prolly be useful to get to know how many miles your bike can go after the light comes on. But even that will vary depending on if you are going uphill, downhill, level or in the twisties.
The surest way to know is using the odometer/trip meter.
