Default New to Sportsters need little advice

Good all sporty riders,

Im looking to buy a sporty for my wife. Is 4300 a good price for a 2005 sportster 883 with 2100 miles? I own a dyna so don't know much about prices on sportsters. Anything I should know about these bikes as far as reliability?

Thanks

love my sporty. so far 5k into my bike have not had any issues. 2005 will be a rubber mounted motor so she/you will appriciate that. The price is about right especially with the low miles. most 2005 883's around here in MI, they are asking 5k but that is asking price. If you can knock them down a little that saves you money to spend on more acc. that she will want.

They are no less reliable than your Dyna! The rubber mount Sporties are great IMHO, so a good choice. Does Mrs C know about this?!

Seems like a fair price to me. Paid $3100 last fall for my '02 with new rear tire, battery and 26k on the clock - I was very happy with that price. Another grand for rubber mount, 3 years newer and way less miles...sounds good...

Not a bad price but you can get a 07 for 5K then you can have the fuel injection. Women like turn key and go.

Sporties are pretty reliable. If the Mrs. doesn't mind a carbed motor then it sounds like a fair deal. Might want to look at EFI Sporties for convenience (I think 07 and later).

My 05 1200c has zero "carb" issues! Great bike!

EFI is great, but if you get a good running carbed bike and keep the fuel system clean it should run a very long time before you need to clean the carb.

EFI is power, economy and convenience all in one. Never in my life I bought a new vehicle before, because it makes no sense financially. Had to get my bike brand new because there was no used EFI Sporty in 2007 ...
