Do you have a voltmeter?

If you don`t have one, buy an el cheapo digital multimeter, it will work fine for what you need to do.

Back to you...

I have retightened both battery connections and put a little lock tight I have found that when it does shut off the tachometer legs all the way and then if I lift up slightly on harness it will resume normal operation. I also noticed that my oil light is working intermittently when I have adjusted wiring harness and such it comes and goes I didn't even know I had an oil light that worked till this problem. I'm working with little time after work each day so I have to do this troubleshooting in small blocks has anyone ever had this exact issue that could possibly send me to a particular wire or ground connection I feel like with it resuming normal operation when connection is made by lifting up harness slightly it may be an ignition coil wire in harness Anyone have an opinion on that ?

I can't do anything except give you advice on how to proceed. Get a Factory Service Manual and a digital volt meter. You are going to have to go through ALL of the connections at both ends of the harness. The FSM has wiring diagrams to follow. Basically, unplug the harness and check front to back of each color coded wire. Use the meter in the ohm position, not volts dc.

If you want to troubleshoot this issue you must have a digital multimeter, a cheap model is fine.

You are not going to guess your way through this.

It is a simple process.

Whenever you are ready...

Harbor Freight has some decent cheap ones, sometimes FREE with purchase of another item. I've been using mine for years, changed battery once, dropped a few times, still works great. I find all kinds of uses for it, very clever little devices. I believe one of my first employers CEO, Andrew Kay, of Kaypro Computers invented the digital voltmeter here in Solana Beach shortly after WW2.

I`ll try one more time, do you have a digital multimeter?

Once you have a digital multimeter, we can tell you what to do.

Waiting for your answer...
