Installed new speedometer cable on my bike and it won't work.Checked cable to see if it turned when bike is rolling and it does. Am I going to have to replace my speedometer or can I replace pieces in it. It looks like where the cable inserts in the speedometer, is wallered out so that the hexagon shaped brass fitting, wont stay in place to turn the part that turns the speedometer.

 

An aftermarket speedo is quite a bit cheaper than having one refurbished. If you're ok with sacrificing the cable and speedo in a last ditch effort you can try to CAREFULLY epoxy the center of the cable into its counterpart on the speedo itself.
