Default How do I adjust idle on 2007 Sportster w/ fuel injection?

I have a 2007 XLC1200 with Screamin Eagle mufflers that I have removed the inner baffle completely leaving only the outer shell of the muffler. The engine idles considerably faster and I would like to lower it to where it was prior to the change I made to the mufflers. I am asking if there is a mechanical adjustment to make a minor change like the idle adjustment screw on a carburetor. Anyone out there know if there is an adjustment method other than through the ecm?

Not unless your cables are improperly adjusted. Otherwise as you said the ECM takes care of it.

No you can't change it even with most tuners, there was a post here a month or so ago about a device that gives you an adjustment **** to control the idle, try a search maybe.

Before you do anything, if you just put the mufflers on you need to ride it a bit so that the ECM adjusts to the new low restricted mufflers.

If you have put over 50 miles on the bike and the butterfly valve is completely closed then you will not get the idle any lower than that.

I know that it can be tuned with the super tuner. The guy that remaped my bike was able to set the idle also.

Contrary to prior posts, your ECM cannot adjust to the new high flow mufflers in all but the very narrowest sense. Seriously, the range of adjustment is not large enough to accomodate the change in air flow. When we change these types of things on an injected engine, there is a corresponding lookup table (commonly referred to as the "map") that needs to be adjusted. That is done with a device known as a tuner, and there are many available for Sportsters. It is the same thing that is done with the "stage 1 download" from your local stealer. The same tuner will allow adjustment of the idle, but other than that, and perhaps that little device referred to earlier, you're out of luck, as the ECM will do whatever it takes to achieve the pre-programmed idle parameters. As far as it knows, the idle hasn't changed, even though you know it has. It is trying to create the exact conditions it is programmed for, and it isn't reading (as far as I know) the crankshaft revolutions exclusively in determining idle.

That "Pigster" item looks interesting but a search only came up with an international ebay ad that was not understandable to me. http://www.ebay.es/itm/Pigster-Idle-...-/180741359812

Supposedly the Sportster engine does not tolerate low idle well due to oiling problems, or so I've heard.

Please read... (note though that this does not discuss the addition of O2 sensors)
