Default my home built exhaust...

so i bought the bike in feb and rode for a bit and then bought a set of the rc components slip-ons that look like drag pipes. didnt really have that harley sound especially after the packing burns out. sold those and painted my stock exhaust black and knocked the plug out of the center of the muffler. i say i liked that sound much better and rode for a bit like that...i just got tired of looking at a stock style exhaust. so i bought a small block chevy long tube header weld up kit for 90 bux at summit. this way i can make a few exhausts from all the bends and straights. for this first one i used the stock rear pipe and cut it down and made the front pipe from the port back. enuff typing, heres the pics...

i made some lollipops out of eyebolts and 1 inch washers with about a 3/8" hole in the center. the pipes are still 1 3/4" diameter. i put them about an inch from the end of each tube and then welded the tip on. this is my first welding project as i bought a cheap one from northern tool just for doin small stuff like this. i cut down the clamp that was on the rear pipe and welded it to the tip and put the original bolt back in it. the wrap is DEI titanium in 2" by 15'...i love how it sounds and took it on a short ride today. no decel popping and nice throaty rumble. i am more than pleased and welcome any comments...thanks for looking and sorry for the long typing....just tried to answer as many ?'s prior to them being asked.

thanks streetfighter! i love it! i just couldnt see spending 400 bux on something very similar from twisted choppers or sikpipes....if it messes up, or gets old, i only have about 1/4 that amount in them...and i can make a few more from all the pipe i have leftover. bout to do some for my brothers vlx 600 we are bobbing out. he wants it pretty much the way your bike is now i think about it..lol...

and smokey, right above the collector is just some 1" flat stock i welded in for support. i did the same on the back side. the tip started out as a 3" turndown that i ovaled at an angle to get it to kick out some. the cut the scoop out with a zizwheel and finished it with a belt sander..

They do look like the twisted choppers pipes a lot which is awesome. I would have made mine, too - but I don't have a welder. That wrap is damn purdy! Way to save some cash! Keep us updated if you do another set!!!

Once again, 2 thumbs up!

Nice job!

I've been pondering the idea myself.
