Sportster Vs. Dyna. Beating a dead horse

I see you are easily confused. How is it I dont know what Im talking about when all I said was bigger bikes dont interest me and that he should ride both and make his decision? Then you open your trap saying your purple murple will walk all over my bike. I REALLY DONT CARE IF IT CAN. If you bought a harley for performance, whether its straight line or cornering.......your an idiot.

Hey man you really need to sit on them and decide no one can really help you out because it is 100% personal pref. I am only 5'9 155lbs so when I sit on a sporty I feel at home and I ride all day comfortable, when I sit on my dads fatboy I hate it the seat is huge and the bike is too big for my style. I also ride two up on my bike regularly but again my Gf is small so we actually have room to spare with my current setup. Te sporty has a rep of being a beginner bike by people who either don't ride or are too fat too fit on one and not look like an idiot Atkeast in my experience because all the real riders I know an meet out at events compliment my bike an talk about how they miss or still have their sporty. For long trips though the dyna would prob be more comfortable for a guy of your size. Good luck with whatever you get I will never get another Harley unless it's another sportster if I was performance I'll get a Ducati 848 Evo for less than a fatbob and as far as cruising zero complaints for my bike

Really depends on your build mostly. I'd say 5'10" and taller you'd be more comfortable on a dyna. or 200#'s or more same thing. not to say there aren't bigger guys and girls on sporty's or smaller folks on dynas..but that seems to be the exception and not the rule. Some of the fastest and best handling bikes H-D has ever produced have been sportsters so the girls bike/beginner bike stigma is one that should fade away..It wont though since in fact alot of beginners and women like them due to their size and initial cost. I loved my sporty, it was faster than my dyna, handled better, was lighter and easier to manuever...but was juuust a weee bit too cramped for me. If it was a little larger but still a little smaller than my dyna it would have been perfect..I love my dyna but I can definately see myself going back to a sporty some day

Why do so many people think that longer trips require a bigger bike?
This past summer I did multiple 700 mile day trips on my Sporty and couldn't have been any more "comfortable" at the end of the day on another bike, considering the distance that was covered.
Out on the highway with the 1200, going 65-70mph and I see no vibrations! Just throw my feet up on the pegs and ride.
I've taken my Pops EG out on some back road twisties and couldn't wait to get back on my bike afterwards. I've test drove a Fat Bob and a Blackline, and couldn't wait to get back on my Sporty after. My bike felt like a rocket after riding those.
Everyone looks for something different in their motorcycle. My 1200C is exactly what I wanted and is set up exactly how I need it to be to be comfortable on weekend trips and for around the town riding.
