I have mustang seats for our bike. Yes, it is cramped. But I get a big kick out of the sporty and for now I will take it anywhere I want to go. I have done 2 week road trips and less on it. The shocks are a challenge but hey I haven't killed them yet. My +1 is quite small so that makes a difference. I kinda like the idea of old school style touring.

Iv gone from Camp Pendleton Ca to Las Vegas on my nightster, I do have a mustang solo seat and that thing makes a world of difference. Its about 305 miles. Dont forget your ear plugs those help a great deal to with fatigue. It was a great ride besides almost being taken out buy a range rover....

Taking my first 'long' trip next weekend. From Houston to Austin. Riding the surrounding areas for a couple days.

I ride an 08 Sportster 883 Low. Mustang seat w/ removable back rest. Throttle Rocker, quick attach windshield and foot pegs on the crash bars.

That should make this about as comfy as it's going to get. I assume. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks,
A water bottle holder mounted to the handlebars. Pick up a Schwinn type at Academy Sports and a 1 inch U clamp from your favarite auto parts store.
Staying hydrated while riding Texas highways is a must. Freeze a couple of water bottles before your trip to help keep a couple of others ones cold. No need for ice and when the frozen ones thaw you have more cold water to drink.
Ride safe.

Justin, it sounds like you have it pretty well covered. I agree with the addition of a drink holder, plus plenty of water. One thing that I added to my bike is a 'Circulator Seat Pad'. You can see it sitting under my helmet in my picture. I was always having trouble with a 'wet butt' when I would ride in the summer...not attractive at all. I would say that it helps as I haven't noticed having that problem since I got it last summer. It also helps keep your seat from getting so hot when it's been parked outside in the sun. Have a fun trip!
