Cool Air Filter Upgrade

In preparing to upgrade the air filter on my 1200 Sporty I would like some insight on deciding btw the Screaming Eagle or a Roland Sands. Would the performance of either Air System be the same considering both use a K & N filter ?

Are you talking about the SE Stage 1 that uses the stock ham can? That's what I have now and I don't think it has a K&N filter.

I am also looking at a RSD but mainly because I like the look. You aren't going to notice much performance gain from an AC anyway. Anything other than stock will flow more air than the engine can use, so it's mainly what look you prefer.

Performance Machine is another option that uses K&N.

I think it's Mreed that has a thread here about a cheap homemade air filter.

The RSD filters look bad ***... Pricey but their filters are worth it IMO (visual wise, performance has been discussed). That's prob the only thing I'll ever buy from them.

Though I read somewhere that they recorded a lower IAT with either the Stage I or the Heavy Breather from the SE line.

That said, I am also looking at NRHS and they knew I was going to put heads, cam and 1250 kit and said the 2 inch unit was plenty.

And they have some bad *** filters too... I actually lied previously. It's their AC that I want. The merc contrast.

The SE stage I kit is not bad, but keep the stock look for the most part. I have the SE stage I kit, with a K&N fliter that is made for it, when I have a modded AC cover so the filer is open. I love my set up as it's one off, but it was not cheap to get it this way.

I noticed a huge difference after installing the SE breather. I had SE IIs and X14iEDs on the bike already, then when I installed the SE breather it really brought the bike to life and is a very noticable difference.
