Default 48 larger tank option?

Does anyone have any experience with SportsterSpecialty (V1 Custom Cycles)? And with that... Any issues with a non MoCo tank? The reason I ask is because this place has a larger 3.2 gal tank that looks better IMO than the Nightster/Iron tank. Personally, I like the cornered bottom edge and flat bottom of the 48 tank compared to the round edges on the Nightster/Iron tank. I just don't like refueling every 70-80 miles.

So.. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice, opinions, comments, etc. on this tank. TIA for any info.

Sportster Specialty - King 3.2 gal Aircraft style gas tank

P.S. I think the Nightster/Iron tank is also a "King" style tank but this one just looks like it has the harder edge that I'm looking to retain.

Except for the gas cap it looks the same as mine I got from V Twin. I sealed it just after this pic and now its off being painted so I cant tell you how good it is.

That's the same as a Nightster tank if you sit them side by side.

Yeah.. I was afraid of that. Not the greatest pics on that site for a true comparison. Looks like it might be made by V-Twin Mfg too. Seems that site is a reseller. Back to the drawing board. Thanks.

Hey Rog48,

I'm looking forward to see the end result of your tank swap. I like the 48 it's just the range of the stock tank that I don't care for.

I like the size but I do take road trips and my last one (750 miles) I did run out.

Yeah I cant wait either. Theres a guy about 20 minutes from the house, Uptown Graphx, that does some incredible work. Mostly very complicated (and busy) jap bikes. He was going to do all my tins for $1300...............I just couldnt pull the trigger so hes only doing the tank. My paint is going to be very simple compared to a lot of the examples he has on his web site.

And no, I havent put the short shots up for sale yet.

Rog - Looking forward to the new pics of your 48 with the tank. Maybe you'll have the new seat too? Brown spring perhaps to match the yet-to-be-seen brown bags...

Im having a real hard time finding a seat solution. The mustang is just sooo comfortable but I know it just doesnt "fit". I could use the mustang just for road trips but Id prefer to have just one seat. I think Ill start another thread, with all the knowledge in this forum Im sure I can get some better ideas and direction.

The guys pretty busy but he is making a little progress. He said it takes a little more prep work because the tank was raw. Did send a pic.
