Default A new Take Off of Not Taking it Off ( Belt Guard tutorial)

Well Most People Like taking of there Belt Guard and having the Open Look Well I like the More Classic look Of having one and the Safty of it there! So I modified it a bit to look like an Older Chian Guard!
2009 nightster guard

I wanted to Cut off the Front Guard to Open it up and make it look like a Bike guard or "Chain Guard"

But a standerd cut wouldnt look right so around the Shop i found a good circumference to use to match up and look right.
It just so happen to be a used up Grinding wheel

I took it and Traced it with a Black Marker!
Now your asking your self How the Heck am i going to Cut this? well if you have a band saw that would be the Best way but most of us dont have 1000$ laying around for one so I had to impervise.

Yup a Dremal with a carbon Cutting disc not the Brown ones.

Lightly Scribe the Metal ON THE LINE! and SLOWLY cut in to it Not to Heat up the the Metal and reck the Powder coating

SLOWLY
With Time it will Come off

Now the Cuts made with the dremal are Rough and not perfect So I used a File to make it Smooth and Round and Smooth!
I used a Flat/ Rounded side File

Or if you want to use the Dremal that works also! Using the Sand paper bit.

Now Look a Perfect radius To finish it off! It looks like it was Made That way!
Dad Sent Me a Cellphone pic of my bike

Cheeers And Any Question Ask Away! hope you like!

I still prefer the look with no guard but this does make a suprising difference for such a small project.

no guard imo....and you're keeping it for the safety it brings? ok, you might want to put those front reflectors back on then too.

If you're going to cut it, you should turn it into a sweet license plate mount. The How-To thread for that is on here somewhere.
