RK shocks and lowering blocks
#11
Update. . .I decided to save my money and sell the 13's and look for 12's. I was on the fence about the lowering blocks and I know that many people on here have successfully used them for a long time but I guess that I didn't feel comfortable using them. Until then, my kidneys will continue to enjoy the stock Nightster shocks. Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

I have been running the RK airshocks for a few years. A couple of weeks ago I installed 1" ABM lowering blocks and not only does it look better, it rides even better than it did before!
Only got about 800 miles on them, so cannot attest to long term durability, but the design seems solid, they are T-6061 and I used grade 8 bolts.
I have seen some other designs of lowering blocks that have broken/stretched where the metal fatigued. This design is completely different and the reason I chose them is that I have some friends that have been running this design of lowering blocks for years with no problems.
Just because I am curious and if they were to fail it could have serious consequences, I will probably pull them off after a few thousand miles and have the blocks tested for fatigue...which will probably involve destroying them. But if it comes back bad, then good riddance, if it comes back good, then I will get another pair. The ride with them is VERY MUCH Better.
Here's a pic of the ones I got-

In fact, have been so impressed with them that we are now carrying them. Check out the different options HERE.

Thanks DK, trying to put together a set up on my Nightster that will allow my wife to ride in comfort. And improve my ride and handling characteristics as well.
Got Pegs, Sissy, Sundowner, 13" Roadster Shocks, and I think these 1" lowering blocks will be the final peice of the puzzle.
Any comments on that line of thought are welcome.

Wife and I together are about 320 lbs and without the lowering blocks I ran about 5 lbs PSI, with them I run 18-20 lbs PSI and she really has been quite comfortable.

It's a quick detach back rest for the rider. Gives you more back support on the longer hauls. It also folds down for a cleaner look when you're off the bike, and for you to be able to throw your leg over the bike to get on. It attaches at the fender struts I believe.
