Probably true, but always worth a shot before buying a new one.

Yes, you can 'trick' the charger by momentarily jumping your battery with a good battery.

If you end up needing a new battery you can get a Eastern Penn manufactured battery from Advance Auto for $39.99 after using the code big15 at checkout. Here's the link for your battery on their site http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...8_A%7CGRP60054____

Better than the $115 HD wants for their battery.

If the battery sat dead for a while the sulphur has settled out of the sulphuric acid and shorted the plates together. That's why its important to keep them fully float charged at about 14.4 volts. A CVC that keeps them at 15.6 will boil the water off over time.

Appreciate the help. Unfortunately, in Canada, it's impossible to get a battery shipped here for less than the dealer charges.

Don't go to the Dealer, a OEM Harley battery is a Deka in a black case with an HD stamp on it.

I have used my truck to jump start my old Crossbones but then I needed to replace the battery as for some strange reason it just killed it. According to HD that's where I went wrong, so instead of ordeing a new HD battery I went with a new battery from JP cycles.

Much better then the stock one I had, hope it helps.

I'll look elsewhere but I have no vehicle so I won't go too far out of the way to save $10-25. But I'm sure some stores will have 'em.

I have done this before (only once) and that is exactly what happened. Had to buy a new battery.
