Yes, the SE clutch doesn't have the same type of spring plate, so if you go with the the SE you shouldn't have any more clutch problems. Do not use the Harley stator as a replacement, Cycle Electric and Accel make better quality aftermarket replacements.

25k seems like a short life for a stator or clutch. I'm at about 22,500, and expect to hit 25 by the end of April. What is the repair cost?

Can't afford to pay attention, or anyone else.

Seriously though, Im thinking about doing this on my bike pretty soon too for the "just because I can and want to" reason. I bought my bike used and Im kinda a picky bastard when it comes to my vehicle upkeep.

That clutch and stator replacement isn't easy. If you have above average mechanic skills, no problem if you have the tools. You will need a clutch puller tool, either the tool to lock up the gears between the primary drive and secondary drive (or a very good substitute), and some pretty serious air tools.

The OL's '04 1200C with about 45,000 miles has the original clutch and stator.
I ordered a crank position sensor last week. Other than that, just routine maintenance.
