Default Horse power of a Mild upgraded 883 (2000)

Wondering if anyone knows what the stock HP is on a 2000 883 sporty. Well mine isn't all stock. I got 45/175 jets, Screamin' Eagle stage 1 air cleaner kit and Screamin' Eagle 2 pipes off a EVO fitted on the sporty. Not bad power for the first few gears (being a light weight helps) but in 5th it definatly needs a bit more "passing" power. I'm sure the few goodies have to be worth a few more HP but I would be happy with 100-125 HP. Anything I can do with out doing a 1200 kit since those are not cheap by any means

We all would be happy with 100 to 125hp. Your bike probably has 50 to 55hp.

You can get it to 100+hp, but it'll probably cost you around $7,000. (Don't know if you would be doing the work or paying someone to do it.)

75-80 hp is a lot more reasonable with a 1250 kit from NRHS, and that's about 50% more power than you have now.

You aren't going to double your horsepower without throwing big, big bucks at it.

If you want to get out of that 50HP range, talk to Dan at NRHS, if you want to keep the cost down go with his standard 1250 kit. That should get you into that 70-75HP range as Charley mentioned above.

When thinking horsepower, look at percentages. Even 5HP right now is about a 10% increase for you.

I think stock HP is about 45, I'm assuming you're making about 50. What about a good aftermarket exhaust - a good performing exhaust, like a 2-1. That might gain you 5-7% over the SE-IIs for $500-600. Easier bolt on, but bang for the buck, I'd suggest the 1250.

Several years ago I saw a magazine test on a carbed 883, it had 37HP at the wheel. Rejetting raised it to 46 if I recall correctly.

Wow I didn't realize I was asking that much for that price LOL. I know for sure the Stage 1 air clearner is worth about 10 more. You can feel the difference in just that alone. But 100 HP is such a nice even number

Now if you get a 1250 kit to go along with it, the air cleaner is worth more but it still is nowhere close to 10hp. Your SE air cleaner is shown in red.

*Gulp* Foot in mouth ans swallow my pride on that one I feel a difference for sure but didn't think it was that low on HP. Maybe Ill just put the Bottle on it then its only when I need the extra punch. Down side... Get about 2-3 shots out of it before its empty. Porbaly 1 shot on a 2lb bottle. HP sure dosn't come cheap. Ehhh

I have an 883, rejetted, k&n knockoff air filter, and an old Honda 750 V4 rated at 82hp (sure it's not that much at rear wheel). Huge difference in performance, yet they weigh pretty close to the same. Haven't raced anyone, but magazine articles place the 750 a little ahead of a 1200 sporty in 0-60 and quarter mile, and a little more on top end. Since my Honda seems really fast compared to the 883, a 1200 would probably be close. See if you can talk a dealer into a 1200 ride, might feel enough difference to make you happy, instead of just thinking numbers. But I know how you feel, thought my 883 would be plenty, but after I got used to it, just not quite satisfied any more.

Down in gears its got a bit of snot in it just a little embrasing when you go to pass someone in 5th gear past 60mph. Do we really need a valid excuse to have more power?
