Default 2007 Nightster - Suspension questions

So I'm picking up a new (to me) Nightster in less than a month now. First HD, but not my first bike. After doing some reading on here, and other sources, I've pretty much accepted that I'm going to have to upgrade the suspension. For starters, I was thinking some 412 Progressives on the rear, but can't decide if I want to black it out, or to leave the chrome finish. Thoughts? (Also, if you think there's a shock better suited, feel free to add. In my reading, that seemed to be the concensus.)

Also, what length? I'm right at 6ft, and about 175. There will be an occasional 2-up, but probably more solo for now. I thought that maybe the 12 inch would give it a little more travel, without changing the general loo too much... but I'm new to the HD world, and still fairly new to the motorcycle thing in general.

Pictures of how the bike currently looks attached below...

RK air shocks are hard to beat - bang per buck wise. But if money is not an issue you can get much more expensive air shocks. Sporty stock spring shocks suck big time. In particular if you are over 180 lbs or ride two-up.
