The 79 ironhead doesn't come with an oil filter. I know they make them to wear you can mount them to the bike if you really want one for it. What would you recommend and is it worth the money?

 

They've been run for years the way they were built. Just use regular dino oil and change it every 2500-3000 miles.

 

I agree, it has a screen in the tank, and I'm not sure if I would put a filter kit on without upgrading the oil pump. I would worry about the stock one being able to push oil through a filter.
