For one thing, i don't think building a bike from donated parts is a waste of time. I just aquired an Ironhead rolling hardtail frame. I gotta find alot of parts now. If I dont find a good deal on an Ironhead motor, it will be powered by a metric inline four as I have a few good motors laying around the shop. Making the bike yours is what it's all about, plus you learn everything there is to know about your bike when you put it together yourself.

I would think that machining a new axle to except the differences in OD/ID's would be the easier more logical means of accomplishing that part of the project.

I say the above statement on account of I am doing a Sportster similarly to what you are doing. i.e. I am installing a V-Rod front-end on a 94 frame, and sectioning in a newer swing-arm (modified several inches longer) to the frame in order to except a 180/200 rear tire, and stretching the wheel base a little more.

Yes these type bikes are fun to build and redesign...........Hell, anybody can buy bolt on stuff that is already engineered to fit.

Please keep us posted.

This is cool. I just tinker with my bike, so its cool to see someone start from scratch. Do you have an image in your head you are working toward or are you just seeing where it takes you?

Well, in most cases I can see that making no sense, but I have a friend that has a bunch of parts and a vison, I am bartering with him and all i really need to buy is a seat, battery and lights. for the cost of that I cant go wrong and I am learning a ton.

Its going to be different and I think it will be pretty sweet. I know I am going to hear people call it stupid, a girls bike, or a slap in the face for mating parts like that, but oh well.

No image in my head, I am free-styling this 100%. as soon as I get the bike in a full roller I will may have a better direction. the good thing about building this in a shop I can grab random parts and see what they look like.

I appreciate the support and the backup i got from the haters.

how about finding a set of r6 wheels..you could probably sell your stock wheels, get the r6 wheels, and still have money in your pocket.. paint or polish the wheels, and you have a nice looking custom. i have always thought about doing that.
