Default tank lift on larger tank

I have a 2008 xl1200c with a 3.5gal tank (I think), and I am thinking about a tank lift. Has anyone done a tank lift on the larger tanks and have pictures to show.

First off I hate tank lifts, but to try and help you out here it goes. If you have a 2008 1200C and the tank is stock then it should be the 4.5 gal tank-I had a 2008 1200C, also if you have the stock riser/speedo under combo then you will see there is not much room under the speedo at all. If you lifed the tank it would be touching the speedo, same goes for putting a 3.3 tank on a C with the stock risers. In order to do a tank lift you would need a riser and speedo mount from say a 1200 L or nightster-one with no pull back and the speedo infront of the bars.

Ive got a 3.X gal tank. Its lifted cause my 2.1 was lifted and wires tucked. I did my bars and new tank at the same time, bars are internal wired and now the wires arent long enough to go back under the back bone and theres not enough room on top without a lift. I dont like it but it will have to wait till this winter to deal with the wiring so I can lower the tank back down.

+1 on everything this guy said. The gap between your speedo and tank is so small, a complete riser overhaul would be necessary to do a tank lift. I also agree tank lift are dumb. I did it. It's like a fad. Won't do it again. Here is a pic of my 06 C with a 3.5" tank lift. The only way I got away with it was because I ditched my risers.

Everything's a fad anyway what's it matter. I think riding around without fenders is a fad and a dumb move.

And yours on the post before. In the end it's all up to the owner on what looks good and what doesn't.

Yes it's all a fad, some better than others. I like the no fender look, but my bike is just to nice to rare and nice to chop up or I would have that look going on. Like I said love or hate tank lifts you cannot do one with a stock C riser/speedo combo.
