Default Modding 2012 Sporty 48 gas tank

My buddy has a 2012 sporty 48 and just completed the stage 1 upgrade. Bike runs and looks awesome, but hes averaging 70 miles per tank give or take a few miles.

HD doesn't offer a larger same style 48 tank so I was thinking how hard can it be to mod the original tank and make it a couple inches taller and wider? Has anyone done this before and if so can you refer someone who can? Or if theres an aftermarket that makes a same style larger tank that would be cool too. Thanks.

Um...yea they do. 3.3g Peanut tank on the Iron and Nightster. I'm sure someone here would be all too happy to trade.

He looking for a peanut style thats slightly larger. The peanut has sharper and better lines to it than the 3.3.

But yeah to the OP, the 3.3 tank is as close as it gets. It would be nice if someone produced a peanut style tank that was just slightly dimensionally larger but retained the same style to maybe hold about 3 gallons. Seems like there would be a demand for it as everyone loves the peanut but not the range it gives.

I'd have to say it's close enough for most save the more squared bottom portion. Still, probably easier to start with the 3.3 and flatten the bottom than to widen the 48 tank.
