I really like my Vance and Hines Short Shots. They're mean sounding, look killer and give a nice chopper look.

I know you said you just want slip-on mufflers but I would really recommend just putting that money towards a full system because you're going to want one anyway. It's really not a big deal removing the o2 sensors or getting rid of them which is what I'd do if my bike were EFI. Just make sure not to get anti-seize or any debris on the tips of the sensors and you'll be fine. And if you decide to ditch the o2 sensors then make sure you buy some bung plugs and coat the threads with anti-seize; they're usually M18x1.5, I believe. Oil drain plugs will work, too. That's what I ended up using since my exhaust didn't come with the plugs

If money is sort of an issue then check out Rush exhausts. I have their Short Series pipes and they were about 100 bucks less than the V&H pipes everybody has. They're also ceramic coated inside and out so they run quite cool. They cool down extremely quickly after shutting off the bike.

Our slip-ons with 2.25" baffles sound great on Sportsters. They are loud and have a much deeper tone than short full systems. Tuning of some type is usually required with either.

If you don't want to tune, many people use our 1.75" or 2.00" baffles which also sound great. The larger the louder. With a stock air filter the 1.75" and 2.00" usually don't require tuning. It's still recommended but not required.

Old thread, but I'll respond anyway in case someone else is going down this road. I went with the Rush baloney cut slipons with 1.75" baffles . It's bad ***. The sound, performance, everything, I think I made the right choice. I've got about 6,000 miles or so on that setup and it keeps getting better. Running a Figure Machine XLFlow R4 Classic a/c and tuned with a Superchips Vigilante and I couldn't be happier.

+1 to this . I have Cycle Shack side slashes that i got for i think $140 or so and they are so loud that i choose to wear ear plugs when i ride. Best bang for your buck and they sound great. V&H are overpriced imo.

I have Rush 3" balogna cut slip-ons with 2" baffles. They sound great...loud and deep. I also installed SEIIs and they are also loud and deep and comparable to the Rush, but Rush I think are a little louder. I run ViEDs and have DK Customs Outlaw 587 air cleaner.
If money is an issue, I would use the stock slip-ons, cut the slip-ons, remove the baffles, and install Thunder Torque Inserts as suggested by DK Customs. Cycle Shack is also a cost-effective option, but it depends on what year bike since the location of the crossover ports are in a different location on different bikes (i.e. on the head pipes vs on the slip-ons).
Love the Rush with the option on gong with different sized baffles.

As has been said, the Rush Slip-ons give a great deep sound. I've run them on many of my personal bikes over the years.

In the last year we discovered how good a Sporty can sound with the stock pipes modified. It is quite a bit better than earlier years. HD changed the stock slip-ons and, now, when modded, not only do they sound great (if you like loud) but are also really good performance wise.

Video below shows my current preferred sound & performance on the Sportster.
