Default Engine guards on Sportsters

Want to get opinions on engine guards on Sportsters.
Don't seem to notice them as much on Sportsters as you do on other HD models.
I am thinking about installing one on my 2011 XL1200C.
Pro's/Con's
Thanks

I have the HD engine guards, part number 49060-04 for chrome and 49215-07 for black. Install takes about 5 minutes. It's a simple bolt on job. You can find them for about $175 online.

Pros: Saved the rest of my bike when I got hit by a car.
Cons: ....

They're also great for putting on highway pegs. I can't think of a downside. Ok, there is one, it's just more money to spend on an already long list of things I "need". lol

I don't have them, but like the OP, was thinking about getting them for the 2010 Sportster 1200 I'll be picking up in August.
Thanks 131 for the pics, anyone else got pics???
Thanks in advance...

Got them on my SuperLow, which looks similar to 131tman's, except for the bags. Thinking about them too.....

I don't have engine guards on My 06 Custom as My Bike insurance is there for the engine ! I have CRASH BARS on My 06 Sportster to save My legs or any other body part they will protect ! Last set I had on a VTX 1300C ( That a Honda SUV tried to breed with Me still on the bike ) kept Me from ending up under a stopped F-150. The CRASH Bars and Leatherlyke bags saved Me from being crushed under the VTX. But I could not care less if they save the engine LOL !........WVleo
