Sportster Misfire, Speed-o In Opp.
Hello All,
I was riding my 2002 sportster this weekend and hit a pretty large pot hole. The back of the bike bottomed out along with my springier seat on the frame. After a while I noticed my speedometer was working intermittently, the engine was misfiring and the blinkers would go off when the speed-o cut out. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem is and how to fix it?
Thanks!

Sounds as if you have damaged an electrical connection. Could be a ground or a power cable, possibly connected with the fuse box if you have one. It is unlikely to be three problems, just one that affects those things you mention. You need to make a patient inspection of the wiring, to find something loose, or visible damage.

I mentioned intermittent speedo issues a few weeks back and someone mentioned that theirs did it and it was a plug wire connection issue on one end or the other. I checked mine and one did seem to be a little loose so I pulled em, cleaned the boots, re-applied dielectric, and haven't had any issues since. Check em out. I am running a DK relo bracket and SE wires though which are a TIGHT fit.

That the one that sits just "inside" the top of the primary between rear jug and fuse block where the DK 6-pos. ignition relo mounts? I was worried about that one when I installed the bracket, but in 3k+ miles it has been SOLID. Of course I used healthy amounts of loc-tite and put some *** on it considering the small size of that nut. Seems like factory or DK used a star type lock washer on it though too.

Well done. Glad it proved to be something simple to fix.
TJ, my SuperLow is close to stock, at least to look at. I do have an engine guard and detachable windshield, also replacement rear shocks and fork springs, so it rides a little higher. Quite frankly I am very pleased with the way it rides, despite the motor and exhaust being bone stock.
