Default Sportster saddlebags?

Ok so I am a new bike owner, I got a 2005 sportster 1200. What are my options for bags....I'd prefer something simple, no fringe and no big metal buckles or anything.....I ain't int that kind of look,.....just something simple I guess.......

I assume I need the supports that go on the side of the wheels If I have bags right?.....I don't know about budget,,...can I get something less than 200 that's decent.....an advice for a saddlebag novice would be appreciated.....mostly I'm gonna use em for a change of shoes and pants going to work....and my lunch of course!.... I got some nice bags for $50.00 (Used) off Craigs list - - just keep looking and you will find something you like - - also check out Bikers Friend - - it is a hard bag that you strap on.

I'm in the same boat. I don't like all the bling on the saddle bags. Leave those for the softails! NO offense guys. I just think they have their place, and a sportster ain't it. Plunderdogs I think look really good. And the hd swing arm bag isn't bad either. they fit in really nicely so they aren't taking away from the look of the bike. They aren't going to hold a lot of stuff if that's really what you're looking for though.

Yeah dont fool yourself on what the plunderdogs can hold. They are good for a long day trip or maybe even an overnighter, not much more.

www.Saddlemen.com
www.willieandmax.com

Both Saddlemen and; Willie and Max have a huge selection of bags. Many under $200.

Here are a couple pics of my $130 throw over bags from the local flea market. I keep my rain gear, small set of tools and other odds and ends in one. The other is empty for whenever I need to carry other stuff. I can fit one bottle six pack easily (probably two can six packs stacked), with room for a couple 750 ml bottles...just to give you a feel for size.

Forgot to mention that I do not have the bag supports. The bags have a hard inner side that just rests against the shocks.

Little over $200, and they also need the supports but I've been very happy with the HD throw overs. If you keep an eye out people dump them on eBay from time to time. Each bag will hold a 12 pack of cans like it was designed to

Check out Rich Phillips at biker saddles. I have one on my 48 that is small, no frills at all, and is good for just a few small items. Can't remember price though.

Just buy a roll bag and strap it on the back seat or above the head light. You can find them for $30-$40.

The one I just bought holds my lunch box and jacket. I could definitely fit a pair of shoes in there if I wanted too.
