I'm getting annoyed having to fill up my gas tank every 120-130 miles. Does anyone know offhand whether HD has a 4+ gal tank available for the '01 Sportsters?

 

You can replace it with a tank from a C model but you may have to shorten or replace your seat too because the tank is longer. You can also buy an aftermarket tank from J&P Cycles or something. But those will come raw and will need painted.

 

Not directly answering your question I know, but doesn't your XLH have a 3.3 tank? My 02 does and I can go roughly 200 miles w/o hitting the reserve. Maybe you have a different problem?

Fat Bob tank, single piece, don't know what year this one was, you'd have to do your homework and then find one used; or spend a lot of bucks (but less than Harley brand) and get a new aftermarket tank - google "fatbob gas tank for sportster" and you'll find new ones, maybe current ones on ebay.

 

+1 to this. You have to have a Fat-Bob tank for the 1996 through 2003 models.
