Talking Operation BLACK-OUT Over the Weekend!!!

SO, I've been working on my bike doing little cosmetic things here and there, installing progressives from the hard tail biltwell struts, exhaust, wrapping the exhaust, and trying to "take off all the extras"...BUT I wanted it BLACK from the beggining. So this weekend I had the house to myself (my girl was in Palm Springs for the Bachelorette party she had planned for her sister) and I had the WHOLE WEEKEND TO WORK UN-BOTHERED!

Had some buddies come over for beers in between to and to grab me food when that time called but I finally put in the taping time and disassembling time to finish what I started by painting the rest of the Primary Cover, Engine (other than push-rod casing and heads) with the HD Wrinkle Black paint.

Friday after worked I took my first test run at the Plasti-Dip and love it! I posted a thread about my taillight gone missing and could only find it in the UK so I fabbed my own Tail Light from the auto store, matched the Headlight Housing/Ring, Tail Light Housing/Ring, Gas Cap, and extra A/C Cover ALL in PLASTI-DIP so it would having the same color scheme in different areas of the bike. More pics on a better camera will be taken today but here's what I snapped on the iphone...

Before the Paint with only the basic covers painted black...

After HOURS AND HOURSSS once again of taping!

Left Side

Right Side ))

Right Side and if you look, you can see the Plasti-dipped Headlight Housing, Rear Taillight Housing, but can not see the Plasti-Dipped Gas Cap or matching Plasti-Dipped A/C cover

And LAST - A little BEFORE & AFTER

Ive been wanting to do this for a long while, looks awesome man. Did you pull the exhaust when you painted the right side? And you just taped off everything that you didn't wand color on and blasted in there? Did you not want color on the heads?

I did NOT want the head black or the push rods of course so I left those chrome/polished aluminum. I wanted to do the whole thing a while ago...but with the 6 hour tape job last time...I decided just to do the main covers on each side and not even mess with the engine.

I left my exhaust ON and just yanked off the intake and taped everything from there. A long taping process but DEFINITELY worth it it the long run to me. I absolutely love it! Cheers!!!

Looks Good!

After a few tank fill ups, post up how well the plasti-dip gas cap is holding up.
