Default whips?

I have been seeing guys with what looks like a whip hanging from their clutch lever. I have been wondering what it was for, anyone know?

It was originally called a "get back" whip or something to that effect depending on where in the country you are from. They were used to whip at dogs that would chase the bikes. Also there is a dual purpose for them too. They were/are also used to designate a club affiliation by what color they are.

The guys I know that have them are old time MC type, and they allegedly use them to smash mirrors and windows of retarded drivers that get on the wrong side of their nerves.

I ride with a couple of guys who have them. They only use them because they think it makes them look badass. I think it makes them look like idiots ... but I have kept that to myself so I don't hurt their feelings.

yup, Get back whips. Love em! Yup, idiot here as well..... hah Anyway, Cool history behind em' .. Some guys also like them because they gain drivers attention.... not only a weapon (but does the trick). Illegal in some states now. Yes, MC's fly colors w em. I use a Maglite in the solo bag now.... legal in NJ.
