Default Best non-marring tools to use?

Without starting a 'brand war' amongst the troops, what's the best non-marring tool brand to use when working with chrome bolt heads, etc? I'm looking to change my front fork springs, but those nice looking chrome fork nuts should stay nice looking after I'm done.

When I did mine I used a large adjustable wrench with blue painter's tape on the jaws. Worked perfectly and didn't scratch, gouge or mar anything

If your using a socket a condom or balloon stretched over the end of the socket works.

These sockets work great for the tube cap. Notice the o-ring to prevent scratches and the rounded corners to help prevent cracking the chrome. It's a 1 3/8" socket that's shallow to allow working under your mounted handlebars. I think mine is from Motion Pro ("MP 08-0139" stamped on side) available through Dennis Kirk, Drag Specialties, etc.

I second this. Works great and no marring.

I've looked around the web for sockets, etc. ALL of them are more expensive than the Motion Pro on the Kirk site. Thanks for the tip!!

For anyone else needing a fork socket, here you go: https://www.denniskirk.com/motion-pr...prd/282291.sku

Those fork cap sockets are awesome...well work the cost.
Some say, always have the right tool for the jobs...such as the Sportster elusive torx #27.

Blue painters tape wrapped on bolts.
Blue painters tape to the tip of phillips, torx and allens wrenches.
Get a small paint touch-up pen for black colored fasteners.
Do not use air tools.

It's a bike, not a piece of jewelry...marks add character.

^^^^This, my bike has a lot of character Now I dont purposely ding my bike up but it has a fair amount marks and even some scratches just from using it. I sure as hell aint gonna buy a special tool just so my fork caps dont get a little wear on them.

Some of us buy Harleys to ride, some of us buy them to look at, yet others buy for both. I want mine to be as clean as I can keep her....I intend to pass it on my grandson someday.
