Question Question Reguarding Pipes and Air Cleaner add-on

Just want to say Hello. I am a newbie to the forums as well as a newbie to owning my first motorcycle. I have a 2007 Harley Davidson XL883L. My question was I just recently purchased a set of Vance and Hines Short shots. Which I have not installed yet. And I was looking at getting the Kuryakyn Pro-R Hypercharger as well. I am not planning on doing any engine upgrades what so ever. I was reading the people choose the VH Fuel Pak for upgrades of this nature. Is this something i need to invest in as well? Will it hurt not running with the fuel pak? Or do I need something other than the fuel pak? Sorry for the dumb questions, Im trying to learn as I go. Just trying to do it right.

Consensus seems to be that the fuel pack is far inferior to the power commander.

I have the v&h short shots as well, and the v&h VO2 air intake. I got the power commander III USB And it all runs like a champ.

As far as tuning is concerned I'm a member of the Power Vision camp. I've had different piggyback devices and actually tuning with the Power Vision has been night and day. I won't rant on too much about it. You can find them on Amazon for not much more than the Power Commander. There's a link in my sig.

Welcome to the forum!

X14iED will do a good job of richening up your mixture, which is something you should do if add free flowing intake and exhaust.

Check em out HERE

Some have good experience with them, some hate em. There seems to be a higher % of people that have problems with them than most other tuners.

I recently installed the Power Commander V on my HD 2012 1200C and can say without reservations that I'm completely satisfied.
The install seemed overwhelming(especially fitting every thing under the seat. But after taking my time I got 'er done' and it made the bike that much more enjoyable to ride.
Improvements are:throttle response, getting rid of the surging due to running lean, engine runs a lot cooler. Not because I did a before and after oil temp measurement of a before and after but noticing the difference when stuck at a long traffic light.
Now I need to save up some $ for slipon mufflers and air intake.

Although you can run your bike with the aftermarket pipes and air intake the general consensus is that some type of fuel management system will be needed for the bike to run properly/optimally. You can spend as little as $100 on the XIEDs or move up to the Power Vision right away for around $400 - $500. Personally, I ended up getting the Power Vision and am very happy with the results.

One other question is, could i take it to my local harley dealer and have them dyno tune the bike? Or will I still need these fuel managment kits on top of a Dyno Tune?
