Default My Sportster mod/mild build thread

I bought this 2001 Harley Sportster 1200 XLH back in the mid summer,
It already had a mild ape hangers and a lowering kit in the back with forward controls , a solo seat and chrome everywhere. I started with removing the stock air intake but I had troubles, both of the screws holding the air cleaner cover on were just ****ed so I too a cutting wheel and grinder and went to town. I ended up putting on and DK customs air cleaner w/ K&N. It already had drag pipes so it was time to rejet it. I put 180 main and a 45 slow. It def really made it a new bike really let her loose and its fast for a sporty. I just ordered my tag relocate and model A brake light and I ordered rear struts and new mini turn signals. I am in the process of tearing down the rear so i can cut the rear fender and give it a custom look. So I will be updating with pics when I get them. I need new grips soon and I would like to have some highway pegs.
This first pic is the oem air filter cover that I tore the **** off lol

In this ;ast pic is the wires that go to the brake light. Can someone explain to me why there are so many damn wires going to the rear brake light???

You will probably find, as I have on a recent touring fender I just bought, that the indicator wires are brought together inside the rear light, so only one harness goes back into the body of the bike. Simples!

Thanks man! I just installed the 10 inch hardtail struts and the license plate and model a brake light on the bottom shock mount. I will get pics tomorrow. and as soon as my mini turn signals get here I will install those as well and get it out and take some more pics. I really want a spoked rear wheels soon and to lower the front end. As far as the power is concerned im done with that. The drag pipes, the DK customs air cleaner and cv carb kit this thing is fast. But I have a lot of cosmetic things I wanna do here soon so I will keep taking pics and keep yall up to date.
